As a small and American family owned company, A. Smith Bowman Distillery balances time-honored traditions with innovation and creativity to produce hand-crafted spirits. Distilled from the finest ingredients, the premium products created at A Smith Bowman Distillery honor the legacy and ground breaking spirit of Virginia's pioneers. Complimentary Tours: Mon.-Sat 10am–4pm departing every hour. Tours last about 1 hour. No reservations are needed unless you have a group of 20 or more.
As a micro-brewery, Adventure Brewing Company is primarily focused on bringing full flavored beers to the local area. Initial plans are to produce around 1,000 barrels (about 30,000 gallons) per year. Adventure Brewing's initial lineup of beers include four year round styles and a number of seasonal or special batches. Williamsburg AleWerks is located in the heart of the early colonies in Williamsburg, Virginia. Established in 2006 we have rolled out a broad range of beer offerings and quickly established a reputation for fine beer. We operate a direct fired brick-clad Peter Austin brew house and ferment all our beers in state-of-the-art conical fermentors. Tours are limited to 15 people per tour. Back Bay Brewing Co. was founded in 2011 by a group of Virginia Beach friends with deep roots in Virginia Beach's Back Bay. Charles Burroughs and Josh Canada were in a duck blind discussing their dream of brewing their own beer when they decided to make that dream a reality.
We craft our beer in small batches, about 4 kegs at a time. This gives us the opportunity to experiment constantly with new flavors and styles. Our beer menu changes often so we're always in here brewing and there's always something new on tap.
In January 2014, we brewed the first batches of beer on our new 15 barrel brewhouse into shiny new 30 barrel fermenters. The doors to our new facility and taproom opened a month later in February, just a block from our original location. Our first product is Sloop Betty vodka, which blends spirits from organic wheat and sugar cane for a dangerously smooth and complex vodka. Sloop Betty has won three Gold Medals, including "Best Vodka in Show" at the 2012 New York World Wine & Spirits Competition, and a 94-point rating in The Tasting Panel Magazine. For Sloop Betty's counterpart, Sloop Betty Honey, we blend raw, unpasteurized honey from Maryland's Eastern Shore with Sloop Betty to create a sippable vodka that can be enjoyed on the rocks or used to sweeten cocktails. We'll be doing our part to make Maryland synonymous with rye whiskey again, and be on the lookout for our white rum as well! Open Friday-Saturday 12-4:30pm, Sundays by appointment.
Founded by enthusiastic homebrewers, Brass Cannon Brewing is a craft brewery dedicated to the production of high quality brews for sale on tap. We currently offer 6 beers at our tap room in Toano, VA. We usually have 4 year-round offerings, 1 seasonal and 1 langrage tap that changes often. Mon.-Tue. 12-7pm, Fri.-Sat. 12-7pm
Mead is similar to wine, but made with honey instead of grapes. There's no brewing or distilling during our mead production. After fermentation all of our mead is put into barrels to age for several months. During this time, the alcohol taste fades as the mead mingles with the oak of the barrel creating a delicious and balanced mead. Our hours vary and tours are usually by appointment. Standard weekend hours may be coming soon.
Longtime friends Tom, Francis, and Colin founded Diamondback Beer in 2013. From our first batch at the University of Maryland to our current production level, we have always strived to create unforgettable beer that everyone can enjoy. Their first batch, 3:30 Amber Ale, was released in December 2014 and sold out. No brewery tours or restaurant... yet.
DuClaw Brewing Company of Bel Air started in 1996 and was dubbed “Bel Air’s hippest establishment” by the local newspaper. Today, Dave and DuClaw Brewing Company Brewmaster Jim Wagner are the masterminds behind our amazing array of craft brewed beers. The brewery is now located on the outskirts of Ball'mer. We do not offer brewery tours at this time, but there are several DuClaw pubs. Check the website for locations.
Eastern Shore Brewing is a production brewery located in the historic mill complex in St. Michaels, MD. All beers are brewed on the premises, and are hand crafted with the finest ingredients. Guests are encouraged to stop by the tasting room at 605 S. Talbot Street St. Michaels, MD, and sample a variety of brews guaranteed to please a vast spectrum of beer enthusiasts. Evolution Craft Brewing Company is a small batch brewery located in Salisbury, Maryland. Selling various beers at the brewery in growlers, they will fill you up for just the cost of the beer each time you bring back the empty growler. TASTING ROOM HOURS: Mon.-Thurs. 3-8pm, Fri.- Sun. 12-8pm

After nearly a 200-year hiatus and a multi-million dollar reconstruction, George Washington's Distillery & Gristmill are back in business. Located at the original site, George Washington's Gristmill™ highlights his visions for America's future as "granary to the world;" while his distillery is the only site in North America that demonstrates 18th-century distilling from seed to barrel. Costumed interpreters bring George Washington’s Distillery & Gristmill to life. Enjoy guided tours of both fully functioning reconstructions. Demonstrations of the operation of the gristmill are offered daily. On special occasions the entire 4-story Oliver Evans System is demonstrated. Open daily April through October, from 10am to 5pm.
Gordon Biersch is a microbrewery specializing in German-style biers. Crafted to the exacting standards of the Reinheitsgebot or German Purity Law. They're based in California, but have a pub in Annapolis.
Heavy Seas kicked off the brewpub biz in Maryland, starting in 1994 with Clipper City Brewing Company. Heavy Seas started in 2003. Brewery tours are available. Schedule a tour through the Heavy Seas website. There's also a taproom with their latest craft beers.

Maidstone Meadery was named after Maidstone, Kent England. They produce a clover honey mead called Inannana’s Favorite and a barrel aged mead called Whiskey Barrel Select. The products are sold in stores from Fredericksburg to Gainesville, Virginia. Maidstone operates a tasting room out of an antique log cabin in Culpeper, Virginia. O’Connor brewed it’s first big batch on St. Patty’s Day 2010. Since then, we have opened O’Connor’s Taproom which is located in the middle of the brewery itself. We have crafted nearly a dozen beers, half of which are offered year-round. We’ve come out with some unique and delicious seasonals and limited releases and test batch every week. Brewed by the Baltimore-Washington Beer Works (BWBW), The Raven Special Lager is named after Baltimore's literary genius, Edgar Allan Poe. Originally produced in the Black Forest region of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the Baltimore-Washington Beer Works in Baltimore began brewing The Raven in June 1998. We have recently extended our beer portfolio to include 3 more E. A. Poe beers named after his legendary short horror stories. Brewed through Peabody Heights Brewery in Baltimore.
Carlos Yanez and Michael Kelley set out with a specific goal in mind; Create a vibrant space paired with artisan crafted food and beer delivered with passion. Master brewer Matt Glass delivers a year round collection of award winning beers: India Pale Ale, Festbier, Helles Lager, Rud Light & Gluten Free Biere Nouveau. In addition he produces a wide selection of seasonal offerings to round out our portfolio.
Ruhlman Brewery LLC started production in July, 2012. The brewery was built on a 36 acre farm in rural Carroll County which was inherited from our father. We are trying to make the brewery family friendly by having areas for strolling through our own hop fields and areas for picnics or just relaxing in a country setting. We have a retail store on site for purchasing our ales. Brewery tours are available on most weekends. We are planning several events throughout the year.
We are a Microbrewery located in Calvert County Maryland and focusing on Locally Sourced ingredients. We are open from 3 -7 pm on Fridays, Noon - 5 pm Saturdays, and 1 - 4 pm on Sundays for tours, tastings and growler fills. The name Scorpion is a tribute to the Chesapeake Bay Flotilla that boldly fought off the British during the War of 1812.
In between brewing batches of our canned flagship beers - Alter Ego Saison, Murphy's Law Amber Ale and Rule G IPA - our crew dreams up recipes for new concoctions. We offer free tours of the brewery and brewing process every Saturday at 1:30, 2:30, & 3:30. Enjoy samples of our beers, grab a pint and check out the brewery on a tour, usually given by our own Head Brewer, Kevin Blodger. You can also just stop in to get your growler filled or pick up a six pack to go! No reservations required.
